Dr. Nick Hess

PT, DPT, CSCS

Dr. Nick Hess graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Wright State University in 2012.  He continued his education at Wright State University and graduated with his Master’s in Anatomy in 2014.  While in his Masters program, Dr. Hess was a student teacher at both Wright State University and the University of Dayton teaching anatomy to undergraduate students.  After finishing his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, he attending the University of Dayton for his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree, where he graduated in 2017.  While at UD, Dr. Hess’ graduate research project dealt with using the Functional Movement Assessment and select clinical measures to predict injury in NBA players.  In his final rotation, Dr. Hess worked with the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association, where he utilized a multi-factoral approach to treatment of professional basketball players using mostly the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) treatment paradigm.  Dr. Hess is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).  He joined the Orion team shortly after graduating from UD.

 

Currently, Dr. Hess is in the early stages of becoming a Sports Certified Specialist (SCS) through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists.  Dr. Hess is an adjunct faculty member with the University of Dayton’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program where he teaches in the Gross Anatomy Lab.  His areas of interest include the athletic population, as well as manual therapy and lower quarter injuries.  When not in the clinic, Dr. Hess enjoys spending time with his family, staying active through exercise and recreational sports, and following the Columbus Blue Jackets as an avid hockey fan.
