Dr. Yury Chorny is the Clinic Director at Orion Physical Therapy Specialists, and has over 12 years of combined experience working in the Clinic and Higher Education settings within Physical Therapy. His clinical specialties are dysfunctions of the lumbar spine and pelvis, hand and wrist, temporomandibular dysfunction, cervical spine and cervical spine headaches.
Dr. Chorny received his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2001 from the University of Toledo, and his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Andrews University in Dayton, Ohio. In 2008, Dr. Chorny received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of St. Augustine, where he also received his manual therapy certification (MTC) in 2006. Prior to working at Orion Physical Therapy Specialists, he worked in an outpatient physical therapy clinic in the Cincinnati area.
In addition, Dr. Chorny currently teaches orthopedics and advanced orthopedics labs for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, at the University of Dayton. Prior to teaching at the University of Dayton, Dr. Chorny assisted with orthopedic labs at Andrews University. Dr. Chorny’s research interests are in manual therapy for the lumbar spine and pelvis. During his time at Andrews university, he assisted in researching the bicycle seat tube angle and effects on quadriceps and hamstrings endurance. His doctoral studies were focused in the “integrated manual treatment approach for the hip and lumbopelvic complex”.
When not in the clinic or teaching, Dr. Chorny enjoys spending time with his family, as well as being outdoors, boating and water skiing. He is married to Dr. Wendy Chorny, who is a Physical Therapist at Orion Physical Therapy Specialists as well, and they have two small children.Back to team
